Go for gold: The easiest eye makeup look for party season

Wanting an ultra-glamorous yet easy eye makeup look for the party season? Gold is having a real moment right now and according to makeup artist Tamryn Jefferies, there are lots of ways to wear it. 

Subtle shimmer   

To make a gold statement that’s still subtle, Tamryn suggests you slick on a highly-pigmented gold liquid liner and nothing else. “Don’t fuss with eyeshadow. Just draw on a gold cat eye and make it as thick as you’re comfortable with,” she says. 

Another simple way to rock the look is to apply a single wash of gold-coloured cream shadow to your entire eyelid. “If you have oily skin, use a primer first,” says Tamryn. “It’ll give your shadow more ‘grip’ so the colour will look more vivid and won’t crease up, no matter how hard you hit the dance floor.”

Gold and bold

Keen to really bring the drama? “Create a smoky eye the way you normally would but use warm, bronze colours instead of charcoals,” Tamryn says. “Next, you want to grab a very highly-pigmented gold shadow, something that will show up over your bronzes and browns. Place it in the inner corner of each eye and blend it out towards the centre of your eyelid.”

Tamryn has another even bolder way to wear gold. “Grab that same gold liquid liner you used to create that cat eye and keep going. Stack line upon line until you’ve covered your entire eyelid in gold and created a wing to end all wings,” she says. “It’s just makeup. If you hate it, wash it off. But if it looks good, just add a luscious-looking set of false eyelashes and you’ll be ready to party.”
